Wednesday's UNC Links

In just 2 days college basketball will see the next team that Roy Williams compiled with a mix of future NBA lottery picks, with some first+Second rounders mixed in and a few proto-typical North Carolina role players. Those "Role Players" for UNC could start and even be the 1st+2nd options on many other D-1 teams. When you sign with the vaunted Tar Heels you accept the fact that you earn your minutes and even lottery picks sometimes have to wait their turn. Remember a few years ago....Marvin Williams stepped into the spotlight of bigtime college basketball and was one of the top recruits in the entire country but couldn't crack the starting lineup for the Tar Heels. Williams played solid but not spectacular yet still showed enough talent to be drafted, not only in the first round but he was a lottery pick! Yes, you heard right, the man couldn't start for the Heels but an NBA team drafted him ahead of "superstars" elsewhere. Coaches know that if your good enough for good ol Roy to make an appearance in your living room then there some bigtime talent.

The incoming freshmen at North Carolina have the pedigree and the hype to talk the talk and have already started putting in the work to be part of bringing the next NCAA Championship to Chapel Hill. The combination of P.J. Hairston, James McAdoo, and Jackson Simmons are part of a top 5 class that should compliment the returning NBA talent that will be hearing their names on draft night more likely then not....well if their is a draft. Coming to play for a stacked Carolina team McAdoo will find himself in that 6th man role where he will have a chance to learn from defensive anchor Jon Hensen and senior star Tyler Zeller. Let's sit back and watch the next UNC team develop because next years recruits are ranked 4th so far again, so maybe we can talk about this more next year.
